Who needs CG-1258 form?
A CG form 1258 is the US Coast Guard within the Department of Homeland Security form. Its full name is Application for Initial Issue, Exchange, or Replacement of Certificate of Documentation; Re documentation. The CG-1258 form must be completed by the owner(s) of a vessel which is to be recorded or re-documented. According to the USCG regulations, vessels used in trade operations should have a Certificate Documentation that will serve as an evidence of the vessel’s nationality.
What is the purpose of the Form CG-1258?
The form must be submitted in order to enable the USCG to figure out the citizenship of the owner of the vessel for which the certificate is sought and the eligibility of the vessel to be documented with the trade endorsement sought.
